President Trump just stunned the world and issued an order about attacking Iran. People are waiting to see what happens next, but Trump is ready to act.
During an interview this week, Trump pushed back against Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s demand that he must seek full congressional approval before responding to Iran’s aggression.
Trump said, “I like the idea of keeping Congress abreast but I wouldn’t have to do that.” He’s right. While the president cannot wage a prolonged war unilaterally, he has authority to respond to an imminent threat.
He then elaborated on his recent decision to call off a military attack after Iran destroyed an unmanned U.S. drone, which is estimated to carry a $500 million unit cost.
“We were pretty close to maybe making a decision to strike then I decided not to do it,” said Trump. “I decided not to do it because it wasn’t really proportional.”
This is the strategic, methodical side of Trump that the mainstream media completely ignores. The president is being patient to see if Iran intends to show any additional aggression before acting.
