Former Independent Counsel Ken Starr predicted on Fox News Thursday that DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s upcoming report on the origins of the Mueller investigation will completely collapse the Trump-Russia collusion narrative.
Starr based his prediction on seeing the Mueller report, which he said “begrudgingly” showed that there was no actionable evidence of collusion. Referencing multiple instances detailed by Mueller in which Trump and his administration refused Russian efforts to involve them in hacking and disinformation, Starr also noted that a federal judge–a Clinton appointee–recently threw out a DNC lawsuit against Trump campaign members and Wikileaks for hacking them during the campaign.
The judge said plainly that Trump’s campaign “did not participate in any wrongdoing in obtaining the materials in the first place” and therefore bore no legal liability for disseminating the information.” Trump tweeted that the ruling was “yet another total & complete vindication and exoneration.”
“Let’s go to Genesis, Chapter One. And that is what leads us right back to Michael Horowitz and his report. I think where it will lead us — and this is a predictive judgment and I may be proven wrong — is that the entire house of cards collapsed,” he said. If the entire Trump-Russia collusion narrative does unravel as Starr predicts, it will likely lead right back to Hillary Clinton and her campaign, which will be bad news for Democrats.
Ken Starr oversaw the investigation into former President Bill Clinton’s affair with intern Monica Lewinsky and uncovered lies by Clinton that led to his impeachment in the House in 1998-99.
