Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) unleashed a shockingly brutal attack on former President Barack Obama on Friday, even suggesting he “got away with murder.”
“We can’t be only upset with Trump,” the controversial legislator said. “We don’t want anybody to get away with murder because they are polished. We want to recognize the actual policies that are behind the pretty face and the smile.”
What’s got Omar in a huff? The Somali-born Muslim rebuked the “caging of kids” at the southern border and the “droning of countries around the world.”
Overt opposition to a beloved Democratic hero may be an insurmountable misstep for a new legislator already in hot water with fellow Democrats over numerous comments deemed anti-Semitic.
In fact, Omar quickly launched into damage control later that same day on Twitter after news of her interview broke.
“Exhibit A of how reporters distort words,” she wrote. “I’m an Obama fan! I was saying how Trump is different from Obama, and why we should focus on policy not politics.”
