A criminal notice about Rep. Ilham Omar (D-MN) was just released, and people are stunned. The White House has confirmed that an investigation could be on the way.
Speaking on the White House lawn before leaving for a campaign event in South Carolina, President Trump was asked about Rep. Omar — specifically whether his administration is “looking into possible immigration fraud committed” by Omar.
The allegation is that Omar married her brother illegally to gain favorable immigration status in the United States. “Well, there’s a lot of talk about the fact that she was married to her brother. I know nothing about it,” said Trump.
“I hear she was married to her brother,” he continued. “You’re asking me a question about it. I don’t know, but I’m sure there’s somebody who will be looking at that.”
All Trump is saying is that the allegation against Omar is currently unsubstantiated, however, investigators will likely examine her marriages, including the claim that she married one person purely for citizenship reasons. We will see what happens.
In the meantime, Omar has plenty of other problems to face. Trump has refused to let her off the hook for her repeated anti-American, anti-Israel comments, and it’s causing the congresswoman major political trouble.
