If a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee were found to be colluding with Islamists, the scandal would be headline news.
But because the media protects the left, Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar’s cozy relationships with radical Sunni Muslims are only beginning to trickle out — and the optics are alarming.
Of concern is Omar’s connection with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), for which she previously served as an Advisory Board member.
This is the same CAIR that was named an unidicted co-conspirator in a 2009 terrorism financing case, and that is a known supporter of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
Far from denouncing CAIR, Omar has openly continued her relationship with the group, accepting campaign contributions and recently speaking at a CAIR event.
In the interest of national security, it might also be asked why Omar risked running afoul of the Logan Act by meeting privately in 2017 with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood.
