Life’s not always fair. Sometimes, people have to work hard to provide themselves and their families with good lives. Sometimes, people get to smoke meth and crack all day, use their cocaine energy to throw a bunch of nonsense on a canvas and sell it for $500,000 because their dad’s the president.
Actually, I shouldn’t say “people.” I should have said “person.” Only one person gets to do that. Yeah yeah you guessed it: Hunter Biden.
Unfortunately for those who value hard-work and fairness, one prominent New York City art gallery owner can’t imagine Biden’s latest venture failing simply because of his family name.
Alex Acevedo, owner of the Alexander Gallery in Midtown Manhattan, has been in the art business since 1956. He predicts Hunter’s endeavor into art to be very lucrative even without Hunter having any sort of painting skill because he’s got the Biden name. “Anybody who buys it would be guaranteed instant profit. He’s the president’s son. Everybody would want a piece of that. The provenance is impeccable.’”
On top of all of this, we haven’t even discussed how ripe the art industry is for money laundering. Because of the abstract principles and prices, it’s really hard to apply value to certain works and know if the money being paid for it is clean or being washed. Of course I’m sure this couldn’t POSSIBLY be the reason Hunter’s suddenly popped up in the art world… right? …right?
