The House just said ‘yes’ and the White House is shocked. A bombshell transcript has been released with key testimony in the impeachment witch-hunt against President Trump.
According to Kurt Volker, the former U.S. envoy to Ukraine, there was no quid-pro-quo between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This is exactly why Democrats didn’t want to release transcripts in the first place.
When asked whether Trump threatened to cancel a meeting with Zelensky in exchange for an investigation into Ukrainian election meddling in 2016, Volker unequivocally denied this occurred.
“The answer to the question is no, if you want a yes-or-no answer. But the reason the answer is no is we did have difficulty scheduling a meeting, but there was no linkage like that,” said Volker.
Also, much to the dismay of Democrats, Volker also pushed back against the narrative that Trump was after opposition research against a potential political opponent. Democrats have used the word “manufacture” to describe it.
“I’ve seen that phrase thrown around a lot. And I think there’s a difference between the manufacture or dig up dirt versus finding out did anything happen in the 2016 campaign or did anything happen with Burisma,” said Volker.
