Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) said on Fox & Friends on Tuesday that House Democrats were “pitiful” for pushing forward toward impeaching President Donald Trump.
Collins pointed out that the majority of the public did not support Trump’s impeachment and said there weren’t grounds to do so.
“[Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY)] is trying to pull a fast one on the American people again. They know they don’t have the votes to go for a full, formal impeachment inquiry,” he said. “They want to continue to put a false narrative out there… It’s really become a pitiful scene.”
Nadler is preparing to vote on a set of initiatives that would allow deeper investigations into Trump without formally declaring impeachment proceedings.
Collins said Democrats were acting out of hatred of Trump and a desire to get in the way of Trump’s agenda by wasting time on pointless impeachment proceedings that they don’t have to votes to follow through on.
