President Trump won a historic election that defied all odds. And his presidency has been more successful in terms of policy accomplishments than many conservatives would have hoped. On top of tax reform, Trump filled a Supreme Court vacancy, and dozens of vacancies on lower courts. He’s delivered a serious beating to ISIS and perhaps most importantly, he has removed hundreds of burdensome regulations. But, it looks like the constant barrage of negative media attention may be making an impact.
Two days ago, the GOP lost another race, this time in a very red district in Missouri — one that Trump took by 28 points in 2016. Now Democrat Mike Revis will represent the 97th District in Jefferson County, Missouri.
For a variety of reasons, at current count, 36 Republicans will leave vacancies in their House seats, and 3 Republican senators will be leaving as well. President Trump and the GOP need to be strategizing now to make sure that Republicans maintain some of the ground they’ve won since 2016. (Read More…)
Former Reagan administration official and famous radio show host Mark Levin has been a potent voice of conservatism for years. He’s intelligent, methodical, and to-the-point. This week on Fox News, Levin laid out how Hillary Clinton in effect “paid for a FISA warrant” and, along with senior FBI officials, “colluded with the Russians.” Witting or unwittingly, he concludes. And Levin is right on the money here.
Every day we learn more about how the Clinton campaign, DNC, FBI, and DOJ, were engaged in something between utterly improper investigatory practice and outright attempts at undermining the electoral hopes of Donald Trump.
Worse, some of that sentiment carried on even after his victory in November of 2016, all the way into the Mueller investigation. Most recently, it has been revealed that the Clinton campaign, probably through Sydney Blumenthal, provided the “intelligence” to Christopher Steele. This is unacceptable. (Read More…)
Right in time for the Olympic games in South Korea, China has moved 300,000 troops to its border with North Korea. Along with the troops, the Chinese military has deployed a missile defense battery southward from Yanbian, which straddles North Korea’s northeastern border.
China’s move here is surprising, particularly given the context of the Olympic games. Not only are the Olympics a symbol of peace and brotherhood among nations, but this year’s games have been a point of compromise and progress on the Korean Peninsula.
On top of North Korea sending a delegation, Kim Jong Un has made a surprising addition to the group: his sister. It seems more likely that the Chinese are flexing some military muscle as a way of showing who holds the real power on the Korean Peninsula. (Read More…)
This Monday, Taliban forces in northern Afghanistan were paid a little visit by an American B-52 Stratofortress. Militants were greeted by 24 high explosive, precision-guided bombs in a barrage which broke the previous record for most smart bombs deployed in 24 hours.
Gen. Nicholson, who led the air raid squadron, said that the Taliban has “nowhere to hide” and that no terrorist groups will find a “safe haven” if they intend to do harm to the democratically elected government in Kabul.
In addition to the MOAB dropped last year by the U.S. Air Force, this attack demonstrates President Trump’s strategy about how war should be conducted. He and his military advisors have removed restrictions that were set by the Obama administration. American forces are now permitted to engage the enemy in situations where they used to be precluded from doing so. That’s made all the difference so far. (Read More…)
It seems like once every week or two, more text messages sent between FBI agents Peter Strzok and his mistress Lisa Page are released to the public. Each one is more damning than the last. In the most recent reveal, the text message that’s making the news said: “POTUS wants to know everything we’re doing.”
If there was any question as to whether former President Obama or key figures in his administration knew about what the FBI was up to, this text message should help put that question to rest.
Earlier this week, the Conservative Institute reported on Rep. Steve King’s warning that Americans should look for Obama’s fingerprints on this scandal. If these texts messages aren’t those metaphorical fingerprints, then I don’t know what would qualify. Obama, Clinton, the DNC, the FBI, and the DOJ were all complicit to varying degrees in this scheme. It’s time we really got to the bottom of what took place in the last year and a half. (Read More…)
Steve Wynn, the founder of Wynn Resorts, has just resigned from his company, after previously resigning from his position as the RNC Finance Chairman. Wynn was recently accused of “decades” of sexual misconduct which included a $7.5 million payout to a woman who alleged that Wynn coerced her into having sex with him. Wynn’s allegedly long history of sexual harassment and assault were detailed in an exposition piece in The Wall Street Journal last month.
His fall from grace was quick and severe. Wynn Resorts stock price dropped rapidly until he resigned, and began a steady recovery after his announcement. Wynn’s experience is demonstrative of what happens when a powerful person engages in horrific behavior. His company and the RNC are better off without him. (Read More…)
