Hillary Clinton has backed out of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit because she disagreed with some of the organization’s choices of other guests appearing there. Democrat presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) and former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Neilsen were also slated to appear at the event.
A Clinton staffer and adviser said the decision to remove herself was related to her support of RAICES and other groups that support open borders and amnesty for illegal immigrants, which made the appearance of Neilsen problemmatic for her. Clinton has also recently referred to Gabbard as a “Russian asset” and the two have sparred on social media.
Fortune has received pushback about Neilsen’s appearance at the event, but is holding firm to their convictions that it’s important to hear from differing viewpoints.
“Fortune strongly believes that interviewing Nielsen—and other key figures from the private and public sector, however controversial—is important journalism and provides us an opportunity to ask substantive questions in front of our viewers and readers,” Fortune communications manager Alison Klooster said.
Such whiny cowards liberals have become in the last decade or two. It’s really quite unbelievable.
