With the 2020 Democratic presidential primary season already shaping up, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren has thrown her feathered headdress into the ring, despite rumblings that she may suffer from a “likeability” problem. Now, failed candidate Hillary Clinton is wading into the Warren 2020 controversy, perhaps signaling that she has a favorite in the race.
Warren has reportedly already sought advice from Clinton, who suffered from her own issue with “likeability” — and now Clinton has emerged to publicly defend her progressive leftist ally, albeit without naming her.
During a recent speech in New York City about “reproductive justice” with plenty of female elected officials in attendance, Clinton said, “You know, there’s been a lot of talk recently about whether our country is ready for women leaders. Now, that really takes me back … Today, I want to thank all of you for your persistence. I know many of you and can attest as to how smart, determined, effective, and dare I say, likable, you all are.”
There was little doubt that Clinton’s use of the word “likable” was in reference to Warren. Will Clinton will throw her considerable political weight — which surprisingly hasn’t diminished as much as it should have among Democrats — behind Warren’s candidacy?
