Hillary Clinton was reportedly ecstatic over the firing of FBI director James Comey and nearly put out a statement supporting President Donald Trump for the action, according to the Daily Mail.
Clinton blamed Comey for her losing the election to Trump by putting out a statement in October 2018 just days before the election that the investigation into her emails would be reopened. In fact, that conduct was mentioned by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein as a reason for his firing.
She also pointed out that Comey’s comments opened the door to Trump calling her “Crooked Hillary.” Although she earned three million more popular votes than Trump, she did not get enough electoral college votes to win the presidency.
Ultimately, Clinton’s staff talked her out of making a public statement in support of Trump’s actions. Privately, though, she expressed that she thought Comey “had finally gotten what he had coming.”
The revelations appeared in a new book We’ve Got People:
From Jesse Jackson to AOC, the End of Big Money and the Rise of a Movement by author Ryan Grim.
