Representative Van Taylor has issued an apology, and dropped out of his bid for reelection.
British tabloids recently uncovered that Taylor had been having an affair with a woman who’s husband had abandon her to join the Islamic State.
The mistress, Tania Joya, contacted another candidate in Taylor’s race, Suzanne Harp. As Joya was confessing to Harp, she apparently hoped that Harp would privately confront Taylor and encourage him to drop out of the race.
Instead, Harp sent a reporter to interview Joya, who then spilled the beans to the world.
“About a year ago, I made a horrible mistake that has caused deep hurt and pain among those I love most in this world. I had an affair, it was wrong, and it was the greatest failure of my life,” Taylor announced.
It appears as though former Collin County judge Keith Self will end up winning the primary, not Suzanne Harp.
