Obama can’t be happy that the Democrats’ latest attempt to blame Trump for the border crisis – including the stuff that started under Obama – is coming to light. His own officials are confirming his role in the disaster now.
Jeh Johnson, Homeland Security secretary under former President Barack Obama, defended the use of detention facilities on Friday.
He explained that when it comes to immigration law, both President Trump and Obama had little wiggle room.
Discussing the fences that are often called cages, Johnson said “Chain link barriers, partitions, fences, cages — whatever you want to call them — were not invented on January 2017,” referring to the fact that conditions were similar during the Obama administration.
Johnson further explained that while fenced in areas are not “ideal”, it was the only option when facing a mass influx of illegal immigrants.
