Canadian cartoonist Michael de Adder was fired from a New Brunswick publishing company after his drawing of President Donald Trump looking down at the drowned bodies of two illegal immigrants went viral on social media, NBC News reported.
The cartoon showed Trump holding a golf club, standing next to a golf cart and asking, “Do you mind if I play through?”
New Brunswick News, Inc. said that the Trump cartoon was not the reason for De Adder’s termination and that he was terminated because they were bringing back a previous reader favorite, Greg Perry.
President of the Association of Canadian Cartoonists Wes Tyrell claimed that the reason for the firing was the anti-Trump cartoon. De Adder had been drawing for New Brunswick News for 17 years.
De Adder said the firing did not make him a victim and that it was “a setback not a deathblow.”
