Fox News star Julie Banderas has jumped into a political fight that may continue to tarnish the media’s image and draw skepticism over their treatment of the Trump administration.
Responding to President Trump’s criticism of her fellow Fox News colleagues, John Roberts and Gillian Turner, Banderas tweeted directly to Trump with a passionate defense. “This is NOT right. I stand by my colleagues @johnrobertsFox and @GillianHTurner. They don’t deserve this. No reporter does.”
She went on to say that Roberts and Turner “are doing their jobs and reporting the facts. They are not opinion journalists and deserve the respect from the @WhiteHouse they cover.” Trump is not expected to respond, however, a contentious relationship with Fox News could spell trouble for an administration already feeling boxed in.
President Trump’s original tweet read: “Never thought I’d say this but I think @johnrobertsFox and @GillianHTurner @FoxNews have even less understanding of the Wall negotiations than the folks at FAKE NEWS CNN & NBC! Look to final results! Don’t know how my poll numbers are so good, especially up 19% with Hispanics?”
