Fox News host Pete Hegseth said about freshman Rep. Rashida Tlaib that she has a “Hamas agenda” after Tlaib said that President Donald Trump “has a hate agenda.” Hegseth made the remarks on Sean Hannity’s show Monday night.
“It exposed the real agenda of today’s modern left,” the pro-Trump Hegseth said. “I mean, if you look at how Rashida Tlaib talked about President Trump having a hate agenda, I could, therefore, look at her and say that she has a Hamas agenda.”
Hegseth went on to defend his comments, pointing out that Tlaib had criticized a New York Times article about rockets fired in Gaza by militants there. “She said that it didn’t reflect well enough on the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip,” Hegseth said. “And we know it’s controlled by Hamas. So if she wants to throw around labels, we can too.”
Hegseth also referred to fellow “squad” member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) as “Comrade Cortez” in the same segment.
Trump recently targeted the “squad” members for their radical views and tweeted that they should “go back” to their countries of origin. Critics called the comments racist and pointed out that all were U.S. citizens and three of the four were born in America.
