For the week ending May 14, Fox News finished first in the 24-hour day and was runner-up to TNT for prime time viewership during the NBA playoffs. This is the 19th straight week in which Fox News finished first among cable viewership for the total day.
TV Newser also reported that Fox News was the only cable news channel to have year-over-year audience growth in both total day and prime time. MSNBC trailed Fox News by nearly 500,000 viewers in the total day ratings, and by nearly a million viewers in prime time ratings.
MSNBC lost 3 percent of its total day and 8 percent of its prime time viewers in year-over-year, and CNN lost double digits in its viewership. It seems like the Mueller report’s exoneration of President Donald Trump has made at least some people less interested in watching left-leaning cable news programs.
“Fake News” CNN, as Trump calls it, didn’t even make the top 5 in prime time viewership and was number five in total day viewership. Maybe if they reported fairly and didn’t make up news that fit their agenda, they’d get more viewers.
Among the coveted 25-54 age demographic, Fox News was also ahead of its other cable news rivals. Some of the highest-rated shows on Fox News include Hannity, The Ingraham Angle, Special Report with Bret Baier, and Tucker Carlson Tonight.
