A bombshell just dropped related to Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and felony charges have been made. The 2020 election just became even more interesting.
Rep. Omar’s Republican opponent, Daniella Stella, is being accused of felony shoplifting — and she is adamant that she is innocent. “I am not guilty of these crimes. In this country I am innocent until proven guilty and that is the law,” she said.
“If I was guilty of crimes, I would never run for public office, putting myself in the public eye under a microscope to be attacked by all political sides,” she continued, noting that “the crime capital of our country” is Minneapolis.
Part of Omar’s jurisdiction is Minneapolis, and Stella has a tough-on-crime campaign platform to draw a contrast between her and the incumbent congresswomen. But these charges may muddy the waters if they end up being true.
However, let’s entertain for a moment that she could be innocent of this alleged $2,300 shoplifting spree: Is Omar’s campaign already engaging in nasty tactics to get Stella out of the race?
Only time will tell, and the legal process should be allowed to work itself out. Regardless of what happens, Omar needs a formidable opponent who can beat her in 2020 — her constituents deserve better than her radical anti-Americanism.
