Fox News reporter Shepard Smith isn’t just an anti-Trump liberal who doesn’t belong at the network — he apparently didn’t stop attacking the president for ridiculous reasons long enough to address his own violent past.
Shockingly, Smith was jailed back in 2000 for running his car into a woman after a silly dispute over a parking spot. “Smith, 36, was charged with aggravated battery with a motor vehicle and released on $10,000 bail,” said an LA Times report on the incident.
At the time, Smith was already a Fox News host and he should’ve been fired then. Instead, the network reportedly declined to comment, even though the woman, Maureen Walsh, suffered bruises on her legs from the attack. She received treatment from a local hospital.
Walsh was a journalist for a local news network, and she had simply tried to save a parking spot for fellow colleagues covering the now-infamous Florida recount of 2000. At the time, the state’s Capitol complex in Tallahassee was ‘ground zero’ for the controversy.
It is sad to see that Smith was never at least reprimanded by Fox News; he deliberately assaulted another person. Especially ironic and sickening is that Jeannine Pirro was recently put on hiatus for two weeks for saying some words that offended PC sensibilities.
Thankfully, Pirro is finally returning to her show, ‘Justice with Judge Jeanine,’ and it’s Shepard Smith who should be leaving the network permanently. It isn’t just about this incident from nearly two decades ago. He’s shown a flagrant lack of desire for facts and fairness.
