President Donald Trump compared his wife Melania to another iconic first lady, Jackie O. on Friday in an interview. Trump was discussing plans to change the colors of Air Force One from the powder blue chosen by Jackie O. to a red, white and navy blue one with a gold stripe.
”You know the baby blue doesn’t fit with us,” Trump said on Fox & Friends, Boston.com reported. “That was Jackie O and that’s good, but we have our own Jackie O today, it’s called Melania T.”
Trump has often praised the First Lady for her beauty, strength and grace. Comparisons to John Kennedy’s Jackie O. were also made on inauguration day when Melania wore a powder blue coat and long gloves over her outfit.
The press has generally either ignored Melania Trump or criticized her for being a former supermodel. The First Lady is proficient in six languages. She was born in the former Yugoslavia, now Slovenia, and also knows English, German, French, Italian and Serbo-Croatian.
She is currently focused on her platform “Be Best,” which encourages children to reach for emotional, social, and physical health. Part of her message is aimed at reducing opioid abuse.
