The health of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a hot topic on Capitol Hill, and even President Trump is weighing in on her future.
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller, Trump showed deference to Ginsburg, saying, “I hope that she’s healthy … I hope she’s happy … I hope she lives for a long time.” Can you imagine any mainstream media outlets reporting these words?
Trump was also asked about who he’d nominate should the opportunity arise to pick Ginsburg’s replacement. While he would not commit to anyone in particular, he signaled his likelihood to stick to his public list of potential candidates. “I have very much confined myself to that list,” he said.
Trump’s previous picks, Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, have proven to be strong constitutionalist on the bench. Should he get the chance to nominate a third Supreme Court justice, some have pointed to Judge Amy Coney Barrett as an obvious choice for her stellar credentials and being a conservative woman.
