Born Suzanne Lorraine Burce, she took the name of the character she played in MGM’s 1944 musical “Song of the Open Road.”
Since then, you’ve known her as Jane Powell.
The actress passed away at the age of 92 on September 16, 2021.
Her death of natural causes comes as no surprise – she was one of the last living actors from the “Golden Age of Hollywood.”
Her two most famous roles were probably 1947’s “Royal Wedding,” in which her costar Fred Astaire famously danced on the walls and ceiling; and 1954’s Oscar-nominated “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”
Her final screen appearance was during a 2002 episode of “Law & Order: SVU,” although she continued to perform during special appearances at concerts for years after that.
She married her husband, Dickie Moore, in 1988. The former child star Dickey passed away in 2015.
