Freshman representative and socialist gadfly Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just received devastating news that could upend her short political career. She was born for the swamp of Washington, DC.
A former member of the Federal Election Commission (FEC) has revealed a stunning new complaint against Ocasio-Cortez on campaign violations. “There seems to be enough evidence here to justify opening a criminal investigation,” he said.
Hans von Spakovsky, who once served as an FEC commissioner, wrote about this development in an op-ed for Fox News. He also dropped the bombshell that if Ocasio-Cortez is convicted, she “could get up to five years in prison for each violation.”
The complaint Spakovsky wrote about was filed by an organization called the National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC). It claims that a PAC controlled by Ocasio-Cortez and her top aide, Saikat Chakrabarti, deserves further scrutiny.
Justice Democrats, the PAC that helped Ocasio-Cortez win her primary, and another PAC controlled by Chakrabarti named Brand New Congress, allegedly transferred $1 million to two private companies owned by Chakrabarti in 2018.
Spakvosky said: “If someone gave Ocasio-Cortez a $2,700 contribution and then gave another contribution to either of the other two PACS that Ocasio-Cortez and/or Chakrabarti were running, her campaign violated federal law by receiving and keeping a contribution above the legal limit.”
