An appeals court is allowing a case against Trump to go forward. Trump is going to be furious.
A lower court had thrown out a case that accused Trump of violating the Emoluments clause. The higher appeals court stepped in and on a 2-1 vote allowed the case to go forward.
The case was filed by CREW, otherwise known as Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.
They allege that Trump has violated the constitutional clause by refusing to put his business assets in a blind trust and profiting off the presidency.
Trump has the option to simply comply and put his business assets in a blind trust. It would be the best course of action for him and would end the case immediately.
We will see what his plan is. But it is safe to say he won’t be happy with this decision.
