Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said Monday that she had tested positive for the coronavirus but currently has no symptoms.
Bottoms is a possible running mate for presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden and has been dealing with protests related to the police shooting of Rayshard Brooks and the shooting over the weekend of an eight-year-old girl.
“Enough is enough,” Bottoms said in a Sunday night press conference, asking residents of the city to “stop shooting each other up on our streets.”
She said that protesters still at the burned-out Wendy’s where Brooks was killed would be sent home.
Bottoms suggested that the protests occurring now are fighting an enemy “within” instead of during the civil rights era when there was a “common” and “defined” enemy.
