Former FBI Director James Comey tweeted Saturday asking politicians not to talk about future prosecutions of President Donald Trump. “Political candidates and elected officials should not talk about the future prosecution of any individual. Law enforcement decisions must be apolitical,” Comey said.
The comment came after several 2020 Democrat presidential candidates said they planned to prosecute Trump if they were elected to office. “I believe that they would have no choice and that they should, yes,” Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) said of a DOJ under her leadership, the Washington Examiner reported.
Another candidate, Pete Buttigieg, said he would support criminal charges if he had a “credible allegation.”
Comey is practically begging Democrats not to talk about future prosecutions of Trump because he knows it won’t end well. Dredging up more investigations on the same allegations that already failed to produce any charges is only going to create more animus against Democrats and support for Trump.
Democrats’ best course of action is to do what they should have done two-and-a-half years ago: accept the election results and pursue their agenda rather than trying to overthrow Trump with lies and false accusations.
