Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-WI) criticized the media on Fox News over the weekend for not looking into persistent reports that Hillary Clinton’s campaign may have colluded with Ukraine to look for dirt on Donald Trump before the 2016 election.
Johnson told host Mark Levin that he was disappointed that the media hadn’t followed up on a 2017 Politico report by Kenneth Vogel that claimed Ukraine had done opposition research on Trump and questioning his fitness for office.
Johnson said he was not making accusations and doesn’t know whether the reports about the DNC, Clinton campaign and Ukraine are true, but that he thinks they need to be fully investigated. “There are so many questions. I’m really not throwing out any accusations. I’m not making any allegations,” he said.
It’s also possible, Johnson thought, that the Clinton campaign was trying to dig up dirt on Joe Biden at the same time as Trump, since Biden had considered running against Clinton in the primary.
Johnson dismissed Democrat speculations that Trump colluded with Russia or Russian actors, saying that no evidence has been given to support those allegations despite intensive investigations.
