Some things are bigger than politics. Former Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer, a Republican, just found his something.
Unfortunately, it’s cancer.
Coyler was running again for governor after being elevated to the position after the last governor resigned after being appointed in the Trump administration.
However, now he’s got to focus on more important things.
“While I have always focused on helping others, for the next few weeks I am going to focus on my health. I was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer like my father and grandfather. After treatment, I am confident for a full recovery. Given these challenges, Ruth and I have decided to withdraw from the Governor’s race.”
Coyler narrowly lost the Republican nomination for Kansas governor in 2018 to Kris Kobach, who was defeated by Democrat Laura Kelly.
