The U.S. Senate just voted on a replacement for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s vacant seat on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, and it’s yet another huge victory for President Trump.
Neomi Rao has been confirmed 53-46 by the Senate. At only 45-years-old, Rao will serve on the D.C. appeals court for many years and have a major impact on our legal system. She is currently administrator for the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.
Matthew Daley with The Associated Press tweeted that Rao “heads WH regulatory office and plays key role in Trump’s efforts to roll back federal rules. She has never tried a case in state or federal court.” Of course, he couldn’t help but make a ridiculous swipe.
The media and liberal politicians were united against Rao, which is sadly commonplace on anything Trump-related. Sen Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said, “Ms. Rao’s record shows she will continue to tilt our courts in favor of the powerful few and leave everyone else behind.”
But Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), someone who’s emerged as a strong supporter of Trump’s ‘America First’ agenda, praised Rao, saying “she demonstrated a commitment to maintaining the public trust and upholding the rule of law.”
Democrats need to accept that they’re going to keep losing. Kavanaugh is on the Supreme Court, and Rao will help bring balance to the liberal D.C. appeals court. She has an impressive legal background and won’t be a pushover.
