Fox News host Bret Baier just confirmed the rumors. They have been spreading for days now, and he made them official on national television. This is so sad.
As promised, the White House released a transcript of the phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Baier announced Democrats “will say that” quid pro quo is “implied” in the conversation.
This is ridiculous, of course. Trump and Zelensky, through the normal course of business, were having a discussion as leaders do and Biden came up as a side-bar as they talked about Russian election meddling.
As Trump tweeted, quoting Baier himself, “You don’t see a direct quid pro quo in this.” But this will not likely stop Democrats from pursuing impeachment, even though 57% of Americans oppose such action.
“I would like you to do us a favor though because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it,” said Trump on the call. “I would like you to find out what happened with this whole situation with Ukraine.”
“The server, they say Ukraine has it,” Trump continued. He then asked that a call take place with Attorney General William Barr because this “nonsense ended with a very poor performance by a man named Robert Mueller.”
