Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has called for two more people to be charged in the alleged $25 million extortion scheme against his family after one person was indicted in the scheme.
“The con man who talked about ‘Project Homecoming’ gets indicted. That’s good,” Gaetz said on his podcast and digital show, Firebrand, on Thursday. “But the intel guy with State Department connections who delivered the actual extortion demand doesn’t? … Then there’s the DOJ guy.”
Allegations against Gaetz first came out in March that he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid for her to travel with him.
He has vehemently denied the allegations and claimed that they were made to interfere with the FBI investigation into the extortion scheme and a “deep state operation to take out an effective political adversary.”
No woman has accused him of inappropriate conduct and the website he was alleged to have used to meet the 17-year-old said he never had an account.
