Walmart stores have removed all guns and ammunition from store shelves as a precaution in case looting occurs during and after the 2020 election.
“We have seen some isolated civil unrest and as we have done on several occasions over the last few years, we have moved our firearms and ammunition off the sales floor as a precaution for the safety of our associates and customers,” a Walmart spokesperson said.
Walmart also banned open carry in its stores after a mass shooting occurred at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas in 2019.
The action is sure to spark a backlash among Second Amendment advocates, who will argue that people could be deprived of buying the items while they are inaccessible on the floor.
In this case, however, I’m sure no one wants to see the possibility that looters could get their hands on weapons and use them against people for whom they feel rage at election results that didn’t go their way.
