A newly release video George Floyd made before his death shows Floyd talking to young people about street culture and encouraging them not to pursue life on the streets, such as with gangs.
Floyd said that while men involved in gangs seem tough, they are actually scared. He also asked young people to change their ways.
“Hey man, come on home, man,” Floyd said. “One day it’s going to be you and God. You’re going up or you’re going down.”
A profile on Floyd written by Christianity Today said that Floyd was actively involved for years with helping youth in the Third Ward of Houston, Texas, and had moved to Minneapolis a few years ago for a job opportunity.
A friend shared that Floyd had planned to go back to Houston over the summer, but was allegedly killed by a Minneapolis police officer during an arrest.
