The latest election evidence just completely stunned a high-ranking member of Congress. It could be finally happening — Americans are shocked.
“It has been baffling that the Senate has wanted to duck and hide and not do what needs to be doing in order to protect the foundation of any republic,” said Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) on Alabama’s FM Talk 106.5.
Referring to the Senate’s reluctance to challenge the election results, Brooks emphasized what he believes is at stake if action is not taken, namely, “whether you have an honest and accurate election system.”
However, as it currently stands, he said that “there is not at least one [senator] that has stood strong for our country and said, ‘I’m going to take the lead.'” In order for the election results to be debated, this has to happen.
Brooks and a handful of other House members are ready, but the Constitution requires action from the Senate as well. At least one senator would have “to co-sponsor this object, so we can have this floor debate,” said Brooks.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) — while he has been a strong supporter of President Trump — has discouraged members of the Republican-led Senate from challenging the election results.
