Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey was just humiliated on live television. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is laughing — he can’t believe Dorsey had the audacity to make this claim under oath. This is absolutely incredible.
“Mr. Dorsey, who the hell elected you and put you in charge of what the media are allowed to report and what the American people are allowed to hear, and why do you persist in behaving as a Democratic super PAC silencing views to the contrary of your political beliefs?” asked Cruz.
Dorsey, of course, tried to convince Cruz otherwise. “We’re not doing that,” he said, claiming that his intention is “more transparency” and ensuring that “more voices on the platform are possible.”
Ironically, the platform has done exactly the opposite. According to the Pew Research Center, “A small minority of users create the vast majority of tweets from U.S. adults, and 69% of these highly prolific tweeters are Democrats.”
Prominent conservatives are social media are well-aware of Twitter’s selective censorship. The social media company recently even blocked the New York Post’s account for daring to report on Hunter Biden’s laptop controversy.
But Cruz and other Republican lawmakers aren’t going to let Dorsey deceive them. The proof of his double-talk couldn’t be more obvious, and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) may be stripping Twitter’s special protection.
