The grant money, which amounts to $250 million annually from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Program, will be hard to come by for liberal states with radical immigration policies.
The states that sued the Trump administration over the rule — such as Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Washington — may appeal to the Supreme Court, but their chance of victory there is slim.
Ultimately, as a DOJ spokesperson said, “All Americans will benefit from increased public safety as this Administration is able to implement its lawful immigration and public safety policies.”
