Former President Trump stood vindicated as Republicans elected Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY) to serve as Conference Chair by a landslide margin of 134-46.
Stefanik reacted to her huge victory by saying, “I’m truly honored and humbled to earn the support of my colleagues to serve as House Republican Conference Chair. House Republicans are united in our focus to fight on behalf of the American people to save our country from the radical Socialist Democrat agenda of President Biden and Nancy Pelosi.”
Stefanik’s victory is yet another sign that the Republican Party is more united behind Trump’s agenda than ever before. Stefanik replaced Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) after Cheney repeatedly attacked Trump while making the rounds with mainstream media outlets.
Cheney was a relatively innocuous figure before she decided to pick a fight with Trump and court the favor of the Democrat Party.
Her actions demonstrated that she wasn’t a true Republican and couldn’t be trusted in any position in leadership. While Cheney maintains her seat in Congress, it is unlikely to survive the 2022 midterm elections.
While Stefanik herself may have some serious question marks on her records, she has at least paid lip service to the “America First” agenda and will advocate for it. Should Representative Stefanik demonstrate the same behavior as Cheney, Republicans will throw her out even quicker than Cheney.
