President Donald Trump must be livid to know that Republican Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) is co-sponsoring a bill with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) to freeze funding to prevent further unilateral action by Trump in Iran.
“As United States Senators, we often disagree on many issues. But standing up for the Constitution is not about partisanship,” the two senators said in a joint statement.
“The Founding Fathers were absolutely clear. They wanted to ensure that our country avoided needless conflict and they understood that presidential war-making would be harmful to our democracy.”
So we are supposed to believe that Bernie Sanders knows or cares what the Founding Fathers wanted? Because they certainly didn’t envision a nation where the government was taking care of everyone and controlling their entire lives.
Lee is on his high horse about Trump’s briefing on the air strike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, in which Trump suggested that members of Congress not question his actions. Lee considers these comments unconstitutional.
