President Donald Trump just signed the order and millions of Americans are cheering. It was time for something to be done, and he is a man of his word. Liberals and the mainstream media are furious.
“We’re here today to defend free speech from one of the greatest dangers,” said Trump while signing an executive order this week to confront censorship on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook.
“They’ve had unchecked power to censor, restrict, edit, shape, hide, alter, virtually any form of communication between private citizens or large public audiences,” Trump continued.
Earlier this week, Trump was ‘fact-checked’ by Twitter for sharing concerns about vote-by-mail becoming standard. “There is NO WAY (ZERO!) that Mail-In Ballots will be anything less than substantially fraudulent,” he said.
Twitter flagged Trump’s tweet and provided articles from CNN, the Washington Post, and NBC News attempting to disprove his claim. This experience and the experience of many more conservatives on social media sent him into action.
In his “Executive Order on Preventing Online Censorship,” Trump laid out an order consisting of eight sections intended to confront the issue, citing the U.S. Constitution and particularly the First Amendment.
