President Donald Trump just signed a new executive order. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is absolutely furious, but there is nothing she can do about it — Trump had to act because of her failed leadership.
“The Democrats have obstructed people from getting desperately needed help,” said Trump upon signing an executive order for a payroll tax holiday. This relief “would apply to Americans earning less than $100,000 a year,” reported Breitbart News.
Trump also said he would extend unemployment insurance — to $400 a week instead of the previous $600 — and also provide an extension on the moratorium that prevented evictions and student loan payments in deferred status from being collected.
Predictably, Pelosi immediately made an appearance on national television to denounce Trump’s actions. “As my constitutional advisers tell me, they’re absurdly unconstitutional,” said Pelosi to CNN. She must not see the irony in her statement.
Pelosi has never cared about the Constitution, and her politically-motivated appeal to it now should be disregarded. Her so-called “advisers” are likely liberal Democrats. After all, where was her criticism when Obama took clearly unconstitutional action?
As Trump pointed out, his order is using “money that was unspent.” This means Congress already appropriated the funds and Trump is directing it to targeted places of need as America continues to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
