President Trump is pushing to shut down the practice of companies hiring foreign visa workers in the next few weeks.
With unemployment at an all-time high because of the pandemic, President Trump is thinking ahead on how to fix the economy.
According to a report from the White House, it is likely President Trump will issue an executive order to stop foreign visa hiring.
A group of Republican Congressmen issued a statement saying, “That suspension should, at a minimum, include H-2B visas (nonagricultural seasonal workers), H-1B visas (specialty occupation workers), and the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program (extension of foreign student visas after graduation). We also urge you to suspend the EB-5 immigrant visa program, effective immediately.”
Foreign visa workers have long been exploited by companies lowering overall salaries for college graduates by inflating the labor pool.
With so many Americans unemployed, this is an important move for President Trump. It is also a good time to fix the visa program to prevent companies from lowering wages.
