President Donald Trump’s pardon was just made official. It is happening and no one can stop it now — millions of people are watching.
“Thanksgiving is a very special day for turkeys. I guess probably for the most part, not a very good one, when you think about it,” said Trump pardoning two turkeys named Corn and Cob on Tuesday.
“These two magnificent gobblers were selected from the official presidential flock of 30 turkeys,” Trump continued in an amusing, light-hearted tone, before shifting to an important U.S. history lesson.
Trump highlighted the American story of “perseverance and triumph, determination, and strength, loyalty and faith,” while speaking about the Pilgrims and also sent his “love” to our military and police officers.
But two turkeys ended up being only the beginning of Trump’s pardons this week. In a far more serious move, Trump granted a full pardon to former national security advisor, Gen. Michael Flynn, on Wednesday.
Flynn was the target of a politically-motivated attack on his character during the transition from the Obama administration to the Trump administration. Trump did the right thing by pardoning him.
