Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy (D) tweeted Saturday that President Donald Trump was “deliberately killing people” by holding rallies and campaign events in person, while completely ignoring ongoing protests where people are in close proximity to each other even more than at rallies, and actually have killed people in violent attacks.
A Trump rally in New Hampshire on Friday required masks and temperature checks, but more than 1,500 attended Trump’s acceptance speech on the White House lawn Thursday night, and most were not wearing masks.
A block away, a mob of protesters surrounded people leaving the speech on foot and screamed in their faces. Did Murphy denounce them and call them murderers?
No he did not. Neither did he denounce D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser for giving protesters a permit for a Friday racial justice rally for up to 50,000 people, or the protesters in Portland that murdered a Trump supporter over the weekend.
While most people will overlook minor inconsistencies, they really hate this kind of blatant hypocrisy. Accusing Trump of killing people with rallies while protesters actually do kill people is not a good look for Democrats. Does anyone really think Trump wants to kill his own supporters? Ridiculous.
