President Donald Trump said Thursday during a Fox News interview that his administration was already mobilizing the military to help distribute the coronavirus vaccine when it becomes available.
“Unless you’re mobilized and ready, you’re not going to be able to do it for a long time. So we’re starting now,” he said.
The administration is already looking at the vaccine most likely to be successful so that it can begin production while it is still in clinical trials.
“Operation Warp Speed” aims to have 100 million doses of a coronavirus vaccine available by fall and 300 million by January.
A vaccine is looked at as bringing about the end of social distancing and shutdowns because it is supposed to prevent the transmission of the virus.
