President Donald Trump called for faster trials and tougher sentencing for those convicted of brutal crimes like the ambush shooting of two police deputies in L.A. County on Saturday evening.
“We’re looking for him,” Trump said of the shooter, who is still at large, “and when we find that person, we’ve got to get much faster with our courts and we’ve got to get much tougher with our sentencing.”
A manhunt for the shooter is currently in progress, and a $100,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to his arrest and conviction in the crime.
A grainy video showed the shooter ambushing the police deputies as they sat in their cars and shooting them with no provocation.
The officers survived the shooting but are in critical condition after both had to have surgeries.
