News just dropped about a ‘reversal’ on the Democrats’ plans to impeach President Donald Trump again. The White House is completely shocked.
Appearing on CBS’s ‘Face the Nation,’ Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) said that “the impeachment of the president to remove him from office clearly is not going to happen between now and the last day he is in office.”
“As Nancy Pelosi just said and Jim Clyburn said earlier today, this is more about a long-term punishment of the president than trying to remove him from office,” blunt continued, speaking to anchor Margaret Brennan.
If the House impeaches Trump and the Democrat-controlled Senate agrees to convict him, he will lose his $200k annual pension, the $1 million a year travel budget afforded to past presidents, and won’t be able to run in 2024.
It is a spiteful move by Speaker Pelosi during a time when President-elect Joe Biden has called for “unity.” Of course, if his recent behavior has shown anything, it is that he isn’t interested in uniting the country, either.
Democrats can do their worst, but Trump is not going to break. He wasn’t even accepting his salary in the first place and he is plenty wealthy to afford his own travel. And he is going to remain a political force for years to come.
