Likely on the orders of the commander in chief, missiles struck a convoy of pro-Iran militiamen north of Baghdad on Friday.
Initial reports suggested coalition forces were responsible, but now the Pentagon is denying it was them.
Colonel Myles B. Caggins III issued a statement saying, “The Coalition did NOT conduct airstrikes near Camp Taji (north of Baghdad) in recent days.”
To further confuse the situation there were conflicting reports from the Pentagon. Either way, the attack was made against Iran, which suggests that it is the U.S. at work.
The tensions in the Middle East have reached new heights with the attacks. While U.S. action was warranted in response to the embassy attack, it is time for Trump to tread lightly.
War is still something that needs to be avoided. We can’t show weakness but we need to avoid all-out war. The costs of war would be astronomical. The best case scenario is that Trump does what he does best – a quick strike, followed by bringing our troops home.
