President Donald Trump said during a Tuesday White House event that three more of his friends have died of the coronavirus since real estate developer Stanley Chera, a close friend of Trump’s, died earlier in the month.
“I’ve spoken to three, maybe four families unrelated to me. I lost a very good friend. I also lost three other friends,” Trump said from the East Room of the White House.
“Two of them I didn’t know as well, but they were friends, people I did business with,” he said.
The U.S. reached its millionth confirmed case of coronavirus on Tuesday, with more than 58,000 deaths attributed to the virus.
The vast majority of the deaths have been people over 65 that have other serious illnesses.
