President Donald Trump just received amazing news — it is officially over and Democrats are furious. He is always one step ahead of them, even now.
When asked about Trump’s Senate impeachment trial, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) made it clear: “Zero chance of conviction.” He noted that 45 Republicans have already declared that “it’s not even a legitimate proceeding.”
Last week, Paul forced a vote on the Senate floor regarding the trial’s constitutionality — after all, Trump is a private citizen now, not a sitting president — and 45 Republicans declared it unconstitutional.
Because of this, said Paul, the trial is “really over before it starts.” Even Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), who supports convicting Trump, recently gave credit to Paul’s argument that the trial is problematic.
“I admit this is of course a matter of first impression and so I don’t think the case that Senator Paul is making is a ridiculous one,” said Murphy on Fox News. Well, then, it is time to end this charade, is it not?
And it will be over soon. Democrats simply don’t have the votes to convict Trump. They would need two-thirds of the Senate chamber (67 members) to accomplish their partisan goal. It simply isn’t going to happen.
